ACT WORKKEYS (Overview)

"ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation being considered and at any level of education." (Source: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/)

In the 2012-2013 academic year, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) incorporated the ACT WorkKeys assessment into the curriculum as an accountability measure.  All North Carolina high school seniors who are identified as Career and Technical Education (CTE) concentrators must take the assessment.  A student is considered a CTE concentrator if they complete a four-course CTE sequence prior to graduation. The ACT WorkKeys assesses career readiness skills and may be recognized as an industry credential. State data reports can be accessed at: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/act/

PREPARING FOR THE TEST

Students who are required to take the assessment will be identified in the fall of their senior year.  Ardrey Kell staff will inform students if they are required to test.  The test administration will take place on Ardrey Kell's campus through an online platform.
